Have you ever worked with an actor who had a chronic mental illness? Have you ever had an actor break down in rehearsal? Has your jaw dropped at a story about someone's experience in the theater? Did you wish you had better skills to help people do their work? For too long, our art form has focused on a scarcity model that encourages artistic leaders to perpetrate emotional abuse on actors. It's time for a new ethical framework. Come learn new tools for working better. Listen to this edited recording of Aili Huber's session all about protecting artists' mental health!

Aili Huber is a freelance director who has been working with mental health professionals to identify tools and establish good practices that directors can use to support an inclusive and safe process.

Listen to Pirronne Yousefzadeh, freelance director, arts leader, and Producing Artistic Director of the Fine Arts Center Theatre Company at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, in an exploration of best practices to create just, equitable, and safe work spaces. As a director, you have the power to set the culture of a production and encourage institutions to change the status quo. From pitch through previews, we'll discuss how you can set up and implement practices that bring social justice, inclusion, and continued learning to the forefront.

​Daring greatly in life & ART. 
Through a series of instructor led exercises, participants will learn what it means to 'dare greatly'. In this course they will understand the principles of shame, scarcity and vulnerability. Using their understanding of these tenants they will be shown how to identify them  in their personal lives and ultimately: their art. 
Using the tools of Brenè Brown's text "Daring Greatly"- Director's will see how bringing their full selves to a process yields to the strongest art making.
