Sisi Wright

Sisi Wright, the incoming Executive Director of Directors Gathering (DG), is a passionate theatre artist, independent scholar, and consultant with a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, arts administration, and program management. For Sisi, her career has been defined by a profound commitment to the arts and a strategic vision for how creative work intersects with operational success. After spending the last 6 years as the (DG) Director of Membership and Engagement, she has demonstrated a keen ability to bridge the artistic and administrative worlds, and made a significant impact in every other role she’s held, consistently demonstrating leadership that goes beyond titles and positions.

​​Sisi’s journey has been one of curiosity, exploration, and an ever-growing understanding of the theatre community’s complex ecosystem. Her professional path has not only been shaped by her artistic endeavors but also by her deep interest in how organizations function,  how they engage with diverse audiences, and how they grow in an ever-evolving cultural landscape. Whether leading initiatives, cultivating relationships with donors,​ or managing large-scale projects, Sisi’s leadership is marked by a rare blend of vision, empathy, and strategic thinking.

Throughout her career, Sisi has honed her skills in engagement, from working with donors to supporting diverse teams and empowering individuals to see and amplify their contributions to the greater whole. She has become a trusted representative, building lasting relationships with key stakeholders and cultivating the kind of partnerships that foster mutual success. Her natural ability to lead — whether she holds the formal title or not — has made her a respected figure in her field, capable of inspiring others and galvanizing action for a shared mission.

In addition to her work as a consultant at her company Play Wright Productions LLC, Sisi is an independent scholar who has recently embarked upon studies of the intersections of theatre and Africana perspectives. This academic pursuit enriches her practice, informing both her creative work and her leadership style. As a theatre artist herself, she brings a deep understanding of the artistry and dedication required to create powerful work, and she applies that same level of care and vision to her administrative and leadership roles.
Her leadership at Directors Gathering builds on a career marked by a commitment to operational excellence, engagement, and the cultivation of diverse relationships that drive impactful change. She has consistently proven her ability to create sustainable, community-centered organizations that are rooted in inclusion, equity, and the celebration of diverse voices.

Education and Professional Experience
Sisi holds a Master of Arts in Theatre with a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Villanova University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Sweet Briar College. Her career spans across multiple prestigious organizations, including The Wilma Theater, Philadelphia Theatre Company, The National Constitution Center, Historic Philadelphia, Inc., and Sweet Briar College.

Jill Harrison announces her departure from the position of Executive Director at (DG)

​Founder 

Jill Harrison (she/her) is a theatre director, creative consultant, and educator.  She began her career in NYC, working for esteemed Off-Broadway companies Playwrights Horizons, New York Theatre Workshop, and Peculiar Works Project. Jill has served as the Associate Artistic Director at Simpatico Theatre, the Festival Director for Philadelphia Theatre Company’s PTC@PLAY, and presently, the Founder & Executive Director of Directors Gathering (DG), a membership organization that builds continuous community for regional theatre directors.

Select directing credits include: the world premiere of Alessandra Most’s Private Policy, a circus in two acts (Columbia Stages), the Philadelphia premieres of Samuel D. Hunter’s A Bright New Boise and Sarah Ruhl’s Dead Man’s Cell Phone (Simpatico), Craig Lucas’ Reckless (Theatre Outlet), Anne Washburn’s Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play (Villanova Theatre), David Adjmi's Marie Antoinette (Swarthmore Theatre), Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation (Arcadia Theatre), and Jacqueline Goldfinger's Babel (Passage Theatre).

A Rad Girl Award "Connector of the Year" nominee, Jill serves as a national voice in elevating regional theatre directors as visionaries. Since 2016, Jill has collaborated with fellow director-centric programmers and leaders at the Stage Directors + Choreographers Society, the theatrical union for directors, The Drama League, and many other director-centric programs to connect and mutually grow our interest in supporting theatre directors and their significant impact on arts and culture.  

Jill holds a MFA in Directing from Temple University and a BA in Theatre from Lehigh University.  As a professor, Jill has taught directing and new work at Swarthmore College, Arcadia University, Temple University, Villanova University, and has offered virtual studio sessions for theatre directors on her digital platform, "Directors Workshop". Jill is a member of Lincoln Center Theatre Director’s Lab and an associate member of SDC.  She is also most proud of her greatest accomplishments, partner to fellow (DG) founding board member, Tom Snyder, and mama to the original (DG) mascot, Stella Snyder.
