As a community of artists, we are all in this together. So, as individuals how are we advocating for our peers to build up this community as a whole? How can we become a community of peer advocacy as a way of breaking industry norms and systematically oppressive cycles? Jerrell L. Henderson, Theatre Director/Puppeteer/Professor/Archivist and (DG) Board Member, and Brey Ann Barrett, Director/Producer/Dramaturg and (DG) Director of Programming, will guide discussion in a large group and one on one breakout rooms to offer tools such as creating models for making introductions to others and their work in person and on social media platforms. These simple tools can get you started on your journey to becoming a peer advocate for your fellow artistic makers.

Sunday, October 24th at 5 pm EST on the (DG) Zoom platform Registration required. The (DG) Gathering is a virtual social event that connects theater directors to each other and other theater makers and lovers.
This October at the (DG) Gathering, we will premiere a special episode of (DG) Coffee Chats: Director to Director featuring playwright, director, and The Wilma Theater’s Lead Artistic Director, James Ijamesand theater director, writer, and The Merrimack Repertory Theatre’s 2021-2022 Artist in Residence Malika O. Oyetimein. 0( The evening will begin with a virtual “dance party” to welcome attendees, leading to an exclusive premiere of the special episode of (DG) Coffee Chats: Director to Director. Following the premiere, guests will have the opportunity to connect with one another in conversation, facilitated by (DG) Director of Membership + Engagement, Sisi Wright.
