A virtual opportunity for future and current members to delve into the core of our community. Participants will be presented with the myriad of benefits of (DG) membership, participate in engaging discussions and have the chance to have their questions answered by the Director of Membership and Engagement. The event is dynamic and combines information presentations, interactive sessions and valuable networking opportunities to help light the path of each director's artistic journey. We will be welcoming Victoria Detres, who currently serves as RISE Theatre's Program Manager, to this summer's Gathering. Victoria will join us in conversation about the RISE Theatre directory. RISE Theatre seeks to build a more equitable and inclusive theatre industry by centralizing DEIA tools and resources through a network of partners and a national personnel directory that supports and amplifies folks from underrepresented backgrounds, including but not limited to people of color, women, trans, nonbinary, deaf, and disabled theatre professionals. (DG) Gatherings - Sunday, June 27
(DG) Gatherings are social gatherings free to all (DG) Members and are Pay-What-You-Decide (a suggested donation of $15, that can be used toward a Director or Collaborator Membership purchase) to anyone who wishes to attend.
In June, we gathered on Zoom and explored what it means to gather again after spending more than a year with restrictions on physically gathering. Using excerpts from the texts of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters by Priya Parker and The Art of War by Sun Tzu, we applied wisdom from each of these philosophers to discuss how and why theatre-makers collaborate. While the Gatherings are primarily social in nature, they occasionally feature special guests and presentations. In 2021 and 2022, (DG) Gatherings will be virtual until it is safe to transition to an in-person/virtual hybrid. |
